Fams continues advocacy for early intervention and prevention

After the alarming NSW Audit Office report outlining that 85,000 Australian children are at risk of significant harm and have not been assessed or seen by a caseworker, Fams issued a media release, which you can read here, in response.

The release pushed the need for immediate action to ensure children in NSW can remain safe and highlighted the necessity that early intervention and prevention play in this. Fams emphasised the need for a 25% increase of funding across early intervention and prevention.

Following this, the NSW budget was released this week. Fams issued a response expressing concerns around the lack of early intervention and prevention funding for NSW children.

Our response, which you can read here, outlined the dire need to rebalance the system and ensure adequate and sustainable funding for the early intervention and prevention sector. We received coverage in the Newcastle Herald alongside NCOSS, which you can read here.
